Brite Dental (Milwaukee Ave.) Review

Updated: Sep 5, 2021

Rather shady business practices.

I haven't been to the dentist in years so I decided it's time to get checked out. I already knew I would need a deep cleaning and that one of my left molar's was damaged, leaving a hole from trying to devour some really hard food years prior. A couple of my top front teeth had some problems as well, but nothing too serious. Looking at the reviews I was skeptical of this place, but decided to try it anyway.

The staff is friendly. The wait was horrendous though. I arrived for my appointment right on time, but had to wait almost an hour because they have one dentist on-site for what is clearly a place that needs at minimum two. Even after being brought to the back I waited in my chair for what seemed like 20-30 more minutes before the actual dentist saw me. A bit before the dentist came a technician came in and did x-rays.

"The denial letter confirmed that the x-rays sent over showed no reason at all for a root canal to be done."

Once the dentist came in things went as expected. He told me I needed a deep cleaning, but also surprisingly told me I had a huge cavity on my left molar that would need a root canal. I remember clearly cracking the tooth years ago, and haven't had symptoms like pain, bad breath, or black buildup on the tooth that would suggest I needed a root canal. This immediately was a red flag to me. After the exam, they polished me teeth and sent me to the front desk.

"This Brite Dental place seems to want kickbacks and allegedly tries to milk insurance companies out of tons of money which results in a waste of time for customers."

At the front desk they told me my insurance only covers 2 out of the 3 parts of the root canal and that it would cost me 800 dollars out of pocket (which made absolutely no sense to me.) They then provided me with a pamphlet for a credit line that I could apply for (which they obviously get kickbacks from.) I go about my day and a few weeks later I get a call saying that everything, including the deep cleaning (which they previously told me my insurance covered) was denied and that I would have to pay $300 for the deep cleaning (it's $150 a part for 2 parts.) I told them I'd think about it, but once I came back from vacation I found the denial letter from my insurance waiting for me.

The denial letter confirmed that the x-rays sent over showed no reason at all for a root canal to be done. On top of that, Brite Dental sent in a request to do a root canal ON MY ENTIRE MOUTH, something that would cost an extravagant amount of money, instead of just the one tooth. My insurance also seemed to be willing to cover the entire root canal and other procedures had the proper evidence been submitted so no idea where the "your insurance only covers certain parts" came from.

All in all I won't be back. I'm forced to go find a new dentist and get a second opinion. This Brite Dental place seems to want kickbacks and allegedly tries to milk insurance companies out of tons of money which results in a waste of time for customers. They get 2 stars just for the friendly staff, but those smiles seem to be hiding something sinister.

2 out of 5 stars
